# Utopia Tracker Releases
|
|
|
|
Release channel for the UtopiaTracker Windows client. It replaces the
|
|
`Utopia Tracker Utils` folder on the SVN server.
|
|
|
|

The repository is public, so no credentials are needed. The version file holds
|
|
exactly one line: the four-part assembly version the installed client must have,
|
|
for example `1.0.4.0`. A client whose `<AssemblyVersion>` differs shows
|
|
"Outdated software" and starts the updater.
|
|
|
|
## Cutting a release
|
|
|
|
1. Bump `<AssemblyVersion>` in `UtopiaTracker.csproj` (source repo `UIND/utopia-tracker`).
|
|
2. On Windows: `dotnet publish -c Release`, then build the installer in Advanced Installer.
|
|
3. Create the release `v<version>` here and attach the package (`Pkg.rar`, the
|
|
`publish` folder as `Pkg/`) and the installer MSI/EXE.
|
|
4. Only then update `SoftVersion.txt` on `main` to the new version. Clients on the old
|
|
version will be sent to the updater on their next launch.
|
|
|
|
Packages are release assets, not commits: do not add binaries to the repository.
